3812 Gallery is delighted to present “Summer-Scape,” a group exhibition offering a serene escape amidst the city's summer rush. Featuring 15 artists, this showcase harmoniously merges Eastern aesthetics with contemporary interpretations, fostering a deep bond with nature and a renewed reverence for its healing powers. The exhibition will be on view at the gallery’s Hong Kong location from 21 August to 13 September 2024.

As the vibrant city of Hong Kong empties out during the peak travel season, the "Summer-Scape" exhibition invites both residents and visiting collectors to pause and immerse themselves in a soothing oasis of tranquil art at 3812 Gallery. While many locals seek respite from the city by traveling abroad, this exhibition provides a rejuvenating destination for those who remain in Hong Kong over the summer months. Simultaneously, it offers a welcome retreat for the influx of visiting collectors spending their summer vacation in the city.

Featured artists include Ann Carrington (b. 1962), Raymond Fung (b. 1952), Chloe Ho (b. 1987), Huang Guanyu (b. 1945), Liu Yangwen (b. 1995), Ma Desheng (b. 1952), Valéria Nascimento (b. 1962), Thomas Ngan (b. 1995), Ren Tianjin (b. 1962), Wang Huangsheng (b. 1956), Wang Jieyin (b. 1941), Qian Wu (b. 1991), Yang Yanling (b. 1974), Yu Yang (b. 1979), and Zhao Zhao (b. 1982).

Curated to evoke a sense of contemplative calm and rejuvenation, this group show builds upon the gallery's annual "Mind-Scape" series, which celebrates the transformative and restorative qualities of the natural landscape. Through this ongoing exploration of "Mind-Scape," we aim to foster a deeper connection between the viewer and nature, drawing inspiration from the spiritual and meditative elements inherent in traditional Chinese ink painting.

Just as the masters of Chinese ink art sought to capture the essence of the landscape and channel the qi, or vital energy, as well as their personal sentiments flowing through the natural realm, this exhibition invites audiences to engage in a similar journey of introspection and spiritual nourishment. The diverse collection of abstract landscapes, floral studies, and organic sculptural forms on display transport the viewer to serene natural settings, encouraging quiet contemplation and a renewed sense of harmony with the environment.

By providing this sanctuary of tranquil artworks, "Summer-Scape" aims to cater to the needs of both local urbanites and visiting collectors, offering a space for quiet contemplation and a revitalized connection with the natural world, even amidst the bustling streets of Hong Kong. Through the interplay of traditional Chinese aesthetics and contemporary artistic expressions, this exhibition hopes to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the restorative power of the natural realm and its ability to nourish the soul.
