Ora-Ora

Flower, 2014 Acrylic on canvas 167 x 135 cm

Ora-Ora is delighted to present "Generative Canvas," a new series of works on canvas by Chinese artist Peng Jian. Building on his exploration of daily life, the artist transitions from depicting "daily objects" to focusing on "daily actions." Using photography and digital manipulation as a starting point, Peng Jian creates compositions that emphasise the identity of images over mere representation. The series draws inspiration from Eastern aesthetics, incorporating elements of classical Chinese painting, such as the use of lines and "ruler painting," while modernising traditional techniques. The result is a collection of subtly layered, misty-coloured paintings that explore the intricate interplay of form, structure, and colour.
