Artist & Curators Talk: Immersion in Place: Connecting and depicting the land

8 Sep, 2024

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join UK-based artist Hannah Rollings, Tom O’Dea from Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Visual Arts, and Kyle Chung, Head of Arts at the British Council, for a discussion on the power of landscape painting to connect us to our environment.

The talk is part of Rollings' participation in the Seefood Room Residency Program, which involves traveling from the UK to paint Hong Kong's distinct landscapes in two weeks.

Hannah Rollings is known for her unique landscape paintings, which capture the essence of the British countryside. Through detailed brushwork and a keen eye for color, she invites viewers to be immersed in a dreamy world inspired by nature.

Tom and Kyle will explore how landscape art can foster a deeper appreciation for the land and strengthen our sense of place. They will delve into the creative process behind Hannah's work and discuss the importance of direct engagement with the environment for both artists and audiences.
