Wandering Mindscape is Zhang Xiaoli’s debut solo exhibition in Hong Kong. On the final day of the exhibition, May 23rd, guided tours on the half hour will lead the audience through a gradual 'wandering' experience across the 20 pieces of artwork on display: first, Wandering Among Things, an inquiry into material scenes and realities; second, Wandering of the Heart, moving beyond matter to follow emotion and the inner life; and third, Wandering of the Spirit, seeking oneness with nature and the Tao. This event marks the closing event of the exhibition.

Zhang Xiaoli showcases her meticulous gongbi technique in landscapes set within surreal, imagined spaces. Playful game-related motifs—her well-known Lego and Box series, alongside chess, Rubik’s Cubes, and labyrinths—reframe the classical literati pursuit of “wandering in the mind,” resonating with the gallery’s 45th anniversary theme, “Then and Now.”
