Job Title: Gallery Associate/Gallery Manager
Reports To: Gallery Director
Summary:
The Gallery Associate/Gallery Manager is a key member of the gallery team, responsible for providing excellent customer service, supporting sales, and assisting with the daily operations of the gallery. This role requires a passion for art, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
• Client Development: Under the supervision of the Gallery Director, build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients through personalized communication and engagement.
• Exhibition Support: Coordinating the installation and de-installation of exhibitions and art fairs.
• Administrative Tasks: Assist/Manage administrative tasks such as data entry, inventory management, and preparing marketing materials.
• Event Support: Assist/Manage gallery events, including openings, artist talks, and private dinners.
• Customer Service: Greet and assist gallery visitors, providing information about artists, exhibitions, and artworks. Answer phone and email inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Social Media: Contribute to the gallery's Chinese social media presence by creating engaging content (if required).
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Gallery Director.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in a gallery, museum, or art-related environment is a plus.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English. Fluency in other languages is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp is a plus.
• Knowledge of art handling and installation techniques.
• Familiarity with social media platforms is a plus, especially Chinese platforms WeChat and Red Book.
