Work in one of the most established local art gallery in Hong Kong that focuses on Contemporary Chinese Art.
We are looking for a candidate that is passionate about art, outgoing and driven to join the team. A strong foundation in Art History is a must. The candidate’s main role will be research, sales and marketing.
Responsibilities:
1. Sales / Client relations:
- Develop and maintain good client relations by notifying potential clients of particular works and exhibits according to their interests
- Follow up with interested parties
- Maintain a good database
2. Plan, research, organize, promote and market exhibitions:
- Generate promotional ideas
- Writing press releases
- Writing quarterly newsletters
- Assist in production of catalogues – mostly in writing essays and translations
3. Marketing & sales through online platforms:
- Manage various websites
- Develop context for YouTube channel
4. General
- Maintain general appearance of the gallery
- Make sure it is neat and tidy at the beginning and end of the day
Requirements:
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese a must (Cantonese and Mandarin)
- Immediate availability is highly preferable
- Minimum 5 years work experience, preferably in an art gallery or related field
Others:
• Maintain smooth day to day running of the gallery
• Keep director up to date on all important details
• Since the number of staff in the gallery is not large, everyone is expected to pitch in and help each other when it is very busy.
• Flexible working hours are expected, especially during exhibitions and Art Fairs
• Travelling overseas is mandatory.
• Expected to keep up to date with industry developments and market trends
