Manager Books and Publications

Blue Lotus Editions is a newly established publication house, an extension of Blue Lotus Gallery, with a focus on exploring Hong Kong culture and identity through visual stories, bundled in photo-books and exhibitions. 

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive candidate to join our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the graphic design of books and all items related to the gallery
• Support the administrative work of the publication process for photo-books, from idea to production
• Communicate with artists, editors, designers, and printers to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that the publication process runs smoothly
• Edit and proofread written materials to ensure that they are error-free and meet the publication’s standards
• Promote photo-books through various marketing channels, such as social media and email campaigns
• Maintaining daily operations for the bookshop, including conducting inventory checks, shipping orders and distributing books
• Assist with book fairs and gallery events when required

REQUIREMENTS

• A bachelor’s degree in Media Arts, Visual Arts, Art History, Cultural Management, Design, or related disciplines
• Working experience in the cultural industry, or project management is helpful but not a must
• Be proactive, capable of multitasking, and able to prioritize tasks effectively
• Have a strong visual sense and a keen eye for detail
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• An interest in publishing and photography
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and/or Chinese
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite including AI and ID

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE CONSIDERED A BONUS

• Familiarity with licensing
• Familiarity with managing assignments, photography commissions and production
• A solid understanding of intellectual property rights and copyright issues

The working hours is five days a week from including one weekend day from 10 am to 6.30 pm.
