Full-time Internship / Gallery Assistant – Simon Lee Gallery

Simon Lee Gallery Hong Kong is seeking a motivated, capable, enthusiastic individual for a full-time internship / gallery assistant position from September onwards.

Simon Lee Gallery is a Western contemporary gallery representing artists of diverse generations, whose practices range from sculpture and painting to video and photography, sharing a broad interest in an exploration of the conceptual.

A direct extension of the London headquarters, Simon Lee Gallery’s Hong Kong space in the Pedder Building aims to introduce the gallery artists to a wider public in Hong Kong and Asia, and integrate with the growing Asian arts scene.

The successful candidate will be providing general administrative assistance and work closely with the Director and a small team of staff. They will receive a wide level of exposure to the inner workings of the gallery.

Responsibilities include general office tasks, archiving, research, filing, library maintenance, management of press materials, telephone and visitor services and working with local service providers.

This is a good position for a composed individual with a demonstrated ability and desire to work independently, who wants to learn about multiple aspects of a contemporary gallery business.

The position offers the right candidate an opportunity to obtain and develop professional experience.

Candidates must possess a friendly and professional manner with strong organizational skills, passion for contemporary art and excellent communication skills. Candidates must be highly detailed, personable, well-presented, well-organized and have a strong work ethic and focus.

Requirements for applicants:

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in an art-related field
• Working or educational experience in contemporary art
• Fluency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
